The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest arts marketplace – a global meeting point for discovering and booking the best in live performance.
But with thousands of shows and hundreds of delegates, even the most experienced industry professionals can find it overwhelming to navigate.
That’s where the Fringe Marketplace comes in. Designed to cut through the noise, the platform showcases standout, tour-ready work, helping programmers and producers connect with artists in a simple, smart and intuitive way – all year round.
The Challenge
The Fringe is fast-paced, noisy and fiercely competitive. Industry delegates are short on time, with fully packed schedules. They needed a focused, user-friendly platform to help them discover shows quickly — without getting lost in the sheer scale of the festival.
Artists also needed a way to showcase their work, often with little digital experience. The system had to feel effortless, while still offering the sophistication required for a global arts industry audience.
We were tasked with building a platform that was equal parts functional, elegant and future-ready.
The Solution
Visually, we embraced dark mode — a nod to theatre spaces — using the iconic Fringe “spotlight” logo as a starting point. Rounded elements, soft curves and a clean, minimal palette help content flow naturally and keep attention where it matters: on the artists.
Features like suggested shows, a “take a chance” discovery tool and persistent breadcrumbs make the platform easy to explore.
Available year-round, it’s helping to keep the Fringe spirit alive well beyond August — ensuring the right work reaches the right people at the right time.
