Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS – provides unwavering care for children who may die young and their families across the whole of Scotland.
Their work is crucial in helping families make the most of every moment. CHAS’s new website needed to clearly communicate the support it offers, drive donations, and inspire people to volunteer.
The Challenge
The previous website wasn’t doing as much as it could to bring together CHAS’s diverse audiences and goals. The user experience was fragmented, with disconnected journeys for families, healthcare professionals, donors, fundraisers and volunteers.
The tone and structure didn’t reflect CHAS’s uplifting spirit or strategic ambition.
With a broad range of users – and a public perception still too narrowly focused on ‘hospice’ – CHAS needed a digital platform that could do justice to its impact, heart and hope.
The Solution
We created a warm, flexible and human-centred site that supports, reassures and inspires. The new content structure puts families first, with clear referral guidance and powerful stories, while audience-specific signposting helps users act quickly and confidently.

The impact was immediate: traffic rose by 17%, on-site actions increased by 36%, and completed donations grew by 27%, with average donation value up by 62%. The site doesn’t just look better — it works harder, helping CHAS reach more people, raise more funds, and create more treasured moments for families across Scotland.
